24.10.19 : For E we ‘traveled’ again to north Africa – with Dorottya’s Egyptian dinner. We had pitta with Salatit Zabadi (simmilar to the Greek tzaziki dip) for starters, then a hot & delicious Lamb stew on white rice, spiced Okra / Bamia, and a spicy, warm Citrus & Nut Compote on vanilla ice-cream.
I’m afraid I have no photos from this dinner; Dorottya suffered a broken heart the day before, but bravely ploughed on with the dinner despite it; so this was a rather somber – if very tasty – gathering, full of friendly support and quiet conversation. and lots of hugs. But no food-pics…
We can, however, offer a link to one of Egypt’s most celebrated musicians of all times, Umm Kulthum. Well worth a listen.
